Variable Generation Forecasting Applications to Utility Planning and Operations

This year, Tom Hoff will discuss Clean Power Research’s experience producing behind-the-meter production forecasts for more than 170,000 PV systems in California at the annual UVIG Workshop.

The UVIG workshop is designed to give utility, wind and solar industry personnel an opportunity to explore and discuss variable generation (VG) plant output forecasts for power system operation. Workshop attendees will develop a better understanding of the value of VG forecasting in the day-ahead, hour-ahead and real-time period; explore the practical aspects of VG forecasting models to the scheduling and operation of power systems; and develop a better understanding of forecasting developments that are on the horizon.
