Utilities in the U.S. Southwest have seen tremendous growth in solar penetration over the last few years, with the latest SEIA projections reaching >4.0 GW and over ½ a million homes for the states of Arizona and New Mexico. While regulatory processes have laid out a framework for growth to continue, innovative approaches taken by Southwest utilities have led to the launch of new programs to engage and retain retail customers with a variety of DG options. As both the regulatory process and business direction evolve over time, Southwest utilities have deployed integrated interconnection solutions that allow them to remain flexible.
