Clean Power Research seeks ambitious students and prospective software engineers to work for a limited-time internship where you’ll be mentored by a full-time Clean Power Research software engineer as you work on production code alongside our development and product management teams. You’ll be helping us tackle lots of big challenges, including development of a new ultra-high-performance architecture and wide-scale forecasts coupled to utility operations. You’ll primarily be using C# and MySQL in a cloud-hosted (AWS) environment. Clean Power Research has several platforms and technologies to work on.  

SolarAnywhere – For this platform you will work with innovative software + science product that performs industry-leading solar prediction for the utility and solar markets. We start with near real-time satellite imagery and use sophisticated scientific algorithms to measure and forecast how much solar energy hits the ground. There are numerous markets for SolarAnywhere, including utility-scale forecasting and rooftop fleet operation. 

WattPlan – For this team you will  build innovative features for the new generation of our solar and DER (Distributed Energy Resources) analytics platform, WattPlan®. WattPlan is an innovative web application and platform that helps consumers understand the costs and benefits of installing solar or adopting other DERs, such as electric vehicles, using a highly personalized analysis and sophisticated analytical models. WattPlan uses innovations such as integrated LIDAR rooftop data and detailed customer electric data from utilities to deliver the most personalized, detailed and accurate assessment in the world. WattPlan also includes a back-end analytics engine that is productized as a web services API that powers the renewable energy industry.   

PowerClerk – This team provides application workflow automation to the utility and solar industries to drive down the soft cost of solar and other distributed energy resources. PowerClerk is already used by some of the largest utilities in the U.S. We have numerous bold bets and challenges ahead, including adding dramatic new capabilities to let us enter new markets and verticals. 


  • Design, build and deliver new features and products 
  • Perform code reviews on your own code and the code of others 
  • Develop and execute automated tests  
  • Actively participate with mentor and in team activities


  • Be pursuing a BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline 
  • Have significant hands-on programming experience in at least one of: C#, Java or C++ 
  • Possess and desire to grow core computer science skills including algorithms, data structures, analysis and problem solving
  • Able to write and speak effectively in English
