As a Data Manager at Clean Power Research, you will play a key role in designing, building and maintaining a database of information that will be used by thousands of people in the solar, electric vehicle and energy efficiency markets throughout the U.S. This role goes beyond data entry, as the person in this role must accurately distill, compartmentalize, arrange and become an expert in the structure and specifics of the data into computer systems. The person in this role will also be a subject matter expert to Clean Power Research software engineers and enterprise customers.

As a Data Manager at Clean Power Research, you’ll be a subject matter expert in the field of electric utility rates, renewable energy incentives, distributed energy resource (DER) hardware and electric vehicles. The maintenance of other datasets may be incorporated into this role over time. These may include natural gas utility rates, water utility rates, and home appliance incentives. As the required datasets change and expand, so will the scope of the role.


  • Understand, aggregate, input and maintain:
    • Rate information from U.S. utility companies, including investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, co-ops and retail providers
    • Renewable tax credits and rebates at the state, utility and municipal level
    • Equipment lists of solar modules and inverters, electric vehicle charging equipment, electric vehicles, batteries and energy storage systems
  • Become a subject matter expert regarding data and data sources, and the precise calculation practices of each. Calculation practices include electric bill calculations, incentive applications, PV simulation and storage system charge/discharge strategies
  • Provide support to enterprise customers related to inquiries about our data and calculations
  • Perform online research and use web alerting tools to derive quantitative results, and predict rate and incentive changes via regulatory and statutory filings
  • Submit inquiries to utilities, municipalities and energy agencies by phone or email, as necessary
  • Assure data quality and work toward continuous process improvement


  • At a minimum, an associate degree is required
  • An educational focus in business, finance, economics, engineering or similar is preferred
    2+ years of experience in a professional environment
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail, a high level of data input accuracy and strong organizational skills
  • Patience, a sharp analytical mind, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills will be critical to success in this position
  • Ability to understand and decipher technical documentation
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency and comfort in Excel
  • Experience working with, analyzing or maintaining complex datasets using software such as Excel, Python, Access or similar
  • Experience in the clean technology, solar, electric vehicle or another energy-related industry is a plus
