This article evaluates the ability of three operational satellite models (SolarAnywhere® Standard, Enhanced, and High Resolution) to predict ground-based measured irradiance conditions.

Results suggest that the performance of satellite-based monitoring approaches that of well maintained redundant sensors at a fraction of the operational cost. The paper also demonstrates that geographically dispersing PV systems results in both lower variability and less prediction error.
