As Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are integrated into the system, some level of visibility and control is important to the grid operator in order to provide reliable operation of the system. This concept plays a key role in the ability to forecast operations, optimize the use of the overall system, and when necessary, take emergency actions for reliability purposes. This panel discusses the options on how this should be done for reliability purposes.
